My paintings emerge through a process of discovery rather than predetermined outcomes. While each series begins from a different point of departure—sometimes a question, sometimes a theme, sometimes simply the act of painting itself—the work develops through observation, adjustment,and continual refinement. Working in abstraction allows me to investigate relationships that resist fixed conclusions. I have come to realize that I am most engaged by the ill-defined, where possibilities remain open and the process itself can shape the direction of the work. Rather than pursuing certainty too early, I rely on judgment to recognize what each painting needs, even when that differs from my original intentions. I always begin with more than will remain. The process of adding, removing, and refining is not about reduction for its own sake, but about arriving at a balance unique to each painting. Some works call for restraint, others for energy. There is no formula. Every painting asks something different. Although individual series may investigate particular themes or ideas, I approach them as frameworks for exploration rather than conclusions to illustrate.
